I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply ALL my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy.

Workout today: cardio 20 min swim (breast, freestyle and a little back stroke) 20 min run/walk on indoor track
I'm 39 years old, overcome premature menopause, lost 100 pounds the healthy way (through diet/exercise), and I'm thriving with thyroid disease (Ok, I have no thyroid!). I'm determined to rehab my ITBS! This is going to be my fittest year yet, my year to challenge myself like never before and reach for my dreams. This year I will become a triathlete. My first race of the season will be the Iron Girl Las Vegas in May (800 meter lake swim, 30K bike, 5K run). :)
What happens AFTER you lose the weight was the starting point of this blog. Reaching goal weight was just the beginning--not the end! I have battled my weight and yo-yo dieted for 25 years. In 2007, despite going through premature menopause, I finally stopped making excuses and started creating solutions. I lost a total of 100 pounds. I got certified as a personal trainer and felt amazing! I was living in a body I had only dreamed about. But in February 2009 I got very sick and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (autoimmune hypothyroid). I had surgery to remove my thyroid in May 2009. One year later I finished my first triathlon! I maintained my weight through 2012 and then felt myself slowly slipping back into old habits and patterns and my nasty sugar addiction was back in full force. My weight continued to spiral out of control with personal issues and depression. In 2015 I was diagnosed with Endometrial cancer. Sometimes life just sucks. I am cancer free now!! :) But it's time to take back my life, to get back to healthy and fit! Stay tuned! It's my goal and mission to share my story honestly and truthfully...
